Description

Background: Patient safety is a priority aspect of quality in health services in hospitals. Injuries
caused by falling patients in hospital services still occur, and cause mild to serious impacts. This
study aims to provide an overview of the fulfillment of a sense of safety in preventing falls in
patients with a high risk of falling. Methods: This type of research is descriptive analytic with a
case study approach. to explore the problem of high risk of falls and the fulfillment of safety needs.
The subjects of this case study were two patients at high risk of falling. Nursing care was carried
out in the internal medicine room at a private hospital in Palembang. The nursing care process for
each subject was carried out for three days. The data analysis used in this case study is descriptive
analysis which is used to analyze the data by describing the collected data to make a conclusion
that is presented in a narrative manner. Results: The study found Mrs. N Morse Fall Risk score of
60 with the condition of walking by holding on to surrounding objects, intravenous therapy
installed, weak condition, while Mrs. S. Morse Fall Risk score of 75 with the condition of having a
secondary diagnosis, walking aids holding on to surrounding objects, installed intravenous
therapy, weak condition. The main diagnosis in nursing care is the risk of falling. The main
interventions carried out included providing a high risk marker for falling in the patient's bed and
medical records, using a bed safety fence, placing the bed in a low position, helping mobilize the
patient to sit up, doing activities around the bed, going to the toilet, asking the patient to use a mat.
non-slip feet, monitor the risk of falling every work shift, health education to patients and families
on the risk of falling and call bell information for communication when the patient needs it, the
results of the implementation for three days of patient care to avoid falling, low risk patients falling
with Morse scores Fall Risk Ny N 30, which is infusion and weak condition, and Ny S value 45 with
infusion, weak condition and has a secondary diagnosis. Conclusion Safety fulfillment
interventions can prevent patients from injury due to falls.
