Subject
Keywords: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, Hyperthermia, Warm Compress
Description
Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease caused by infection with the Dengue virus which is transmitted through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Sudden fever, headache/dizziness, pain behind the eyeballs, nausea, and bleeding such as a positive tourniquet (rumple lead) test, red spots on the skin (petechiae), nosebleeds, bleeding gums are symptoms of DHF. Hyperthermia is a condition where the body temperature exceeds 37.5⁰C.
Methods: The design of this study uses a descriptive analytic method in the form of a case study. The case study subjects used were two individuals aged 4-15 years with a medical diagnosis of dengue hemorrhagic fever who experienced hyperthermia at Palembang Muhammadiyah Hospital, March - April 2023. The data for this study were collected using interviews, observation and secondary data tracking. namely collecting existing data on status, progress notes, and medical records.
Results: After the implementation of hyperthermia management and education on thermoregulation with warm compresses on the two case study subjects for 3 days, the temperature decreased in subject 1 to 36.6 ºC and subject 2 to 36.2 ºC.
Conclusion: Management of hyperthermia and thermoregulation education with warm compresses can reduce body temperature.
