Description
Background : Diabetes Mellitus is a part of metabolic diseases with
characteristic hyperglycemia that occurs due to abnormalities in insulin
secretion, insulin performance, or both. Methods : This case study uses a
descriptive method with a nursing care approach. This research was conducted
on March 15 – 21, 2023 and continued on March 25 – 31, 2023. The number of
subjects taken was 2 respondents who would be given nursing implementation but
progressive muscle relaxation for 6 consecutive days. This research was
conducted in the working area of the Palembang Social Health Care. Results :
The results of the study after progressive muscle relaxation therapy showed that
there was an increase in comfort status of the client and showed a significant
difference in blood glucose levels on the first day and the sixth day after
progressive muscle relaxation therapy. On client 1, the first day was 242 mg/dl
and on the sixth day, 200 mg/dl, while on client 2, on the first day, it was 224
mg/dl and on the sixth day it decreased to 195 mg/dl. Conclusion : Progressive
Muscle Relaxation can improve comfort status and also reduce blood glucose
levels in people with Diabetes Mellitus.
