Background : Children with typhoid fever who undergo hospitalization
usually will cause anxiety in children. The role of nurses has a big role in
controlling anxiety by reducing anxiety, namely storytelling. Storytelling
therapy aims to make children happier or used as entertainment when they are
hospitalized and can reduce anxiety levels in children.
Methods : The design of this case study is descriptive in the form of a case
study with a nursing process approach consisting of assessment, nursing
diagnosis, planning, evaluation and documentation. The case study subjects
were 2 cases of typhoid fever aged 4-12 years with anxiety nursing problems
at the Muhammadiyah Hospital in Palembang in 2022. The data collection
technique was by observation, interviews and filling out research instruments
for 3 days in the treatment room. The results of the assessment before being
given therapy, the patient experienced a level of severe anxiety and a
moderate level of anxiety.
Result : reduction of anxiety through play therapy, coloring pictures has an
effective effect on reducing anxiety experienced by pediatric patients during
hospitalization. Anxiety scores decreased significantly after storytelling
therapy.
Conclusion : All nursing plans that have been prepared based on theory can
be carried out in the field on patients
