Background : Benign Prostate Hyperplasia is a problem that often occurs in men
over 50 years old because they often hold urine when they want to urinate,
resulting in a progressive enlargement of the prostate gland causing various
degrees of obstruction to urinary flow. Long-term management of patients with
BPH is surgery. Surgical procedures have a side effect, namely pain. In terms of
overcoming pain, a strategy that is often referred to as pain management is carried
out, one of which is the provision of deep breathing relaxation techniques.
Methods : This research design uses a descriptive method in the form of a case
study. The approach used is a nursing care approach which includes assessment,
nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Results : The study was conducted for 3 days, the results showed that the pain of
both patients was reduced seen from the pain scale indicators, namely pain scale 3
in patient 1 and pain scale 2 in patient 2.
Conclusion : There is a change in pain scale in postoperative benign prostatic
hyperplasia patients who have undergone surgery. given deep breathing relaxation
techniques.
