Description
ABSTRACT
Background: Gout arthritis is a joint disorder or rheumatism. Data from the World
Health Organization in 2017 showed the prevalence of gout arthritis in the world
was 34.2%, while in Indonesia the prevalence of gout arthritis was 32% under 34
years of age. Diet and the patient's level of knowledge are expected to reduce uric
acid. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between diet and
knowledge level with uric acid levels. Method: The research design used was an
analytical survey research. The sample in this study used the Slovin formula, so
that a sample of 43 people was obtained. Determination of the sample using
purposive sampling technique. The results of univariate analysis show that
respondents Late elderly age 97.7%, male respondents 41.9%, and female 58.1%,
respondents with low education 95.3%, respondents with a good diet 60.5% and
respondents who have a good level of knowledge 55.8%. Bivariate analysis
showed that respondents had a good diet with normal uric acid levels of 57.7%
and those who had a bad diet with abnormal uric acid levels were 64.7%.
Respondents who have a good level of knowledge with normal uric acid levels are
54.2% and those who have a poor level of knowledge with abnormal uric acid
levels are 68.4%. Obtained, the results of bivariate analysis of diet P-Value =
0.888 and level of knowledge P-Value = 0.525, meaning that there is no
relationship between diet and knowledge level with uric acid levels in the blood. It
is hoped that the orphanage will be able to carry out regular health education.
