ABSTRACK
Introduction: Hypertension is often called the silent killer because this
disorder is asymptomatic in its early stages, but can cause permanent
damage to vital organs. There are several risk factors for hypertension that
cannot be changed such as family history, age, gender, and ethnicity.
However, the fact that often occurs is outside factors that trigger the spread
of hypertension with complications of stroke and heart attack, such as poor
sleep quality. Purpose: Knowing that the correlation between sleep quality
and blood pressure in patients with hypertention at The Working Area of
Padang Selasa Palembang 2021. Methods: This was an analytic
observational research, with cross sectional approach. Population of this
research was patients with hypertension in Working Area of Padang Selasa
Palembang, with samples of 67 respondents by purposive sampling
technique. The analysis used through Spearman's rho test. Results: The
statistical test showed that the mean of sleep quality was 6,37 and the mean
of blood pressure level was 162,03 / 96,96 mmHg. Conclusion: The results
of Spearman's rho test showed there was uncorrelated between sleep quality
and blood pressure levels with (p-value: 0.0005). Recomendations to public
health services management to provide health education to patients with
hypertension should be able to maintain a healthy lifestyle and maintain
good sleep quality so that there keeps in a normal blood pressure levels.
