Description
Backgound : Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases with
characteristics of hyperglycemia that occur due to abnormal insulin
secretion, insulin work, or both (American Diabetes Association, 2010).
Until now, the number of people with diabetes mellitus in the world is
increasing. There are 422 million adults over the age of 18 who have
diabetes in 2014 (WHO, 2016). The problem that occurs in Diabetes
Mellitus is Damage to Skin Integrity. Method : The type of research
used is descriptive analytic. The approach used is a nursing care
approach that includes assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning,
implementation and evaluation. The research subjects studied were two
patients with diabetes mellitus with the problem of Skin Integrity
Damage of the same sex. The research was conducted in the Ahmad
Dahlan room of Rs. Muhammadiyah Palembang. The study was
conducted by conducting interviews, observation and physical
examination on April 2, 2021-7 April 2021. Results and Conculusion :
The results of the study showed that after three days of implementation
for the problem Damage to skin integrity experienced in patients
improved. Looking at the results of this study, it is expected that with the
description of this study, other researchers can carry out nursing
implementation in patients with diabetes mellitus with problems with
damage to the integrity of the skin regardless of other problems to
improve the quality of patient-focused nursing care.
