Description
Background: Gout arthritis is a purine metabolic disorder disease that can be
characterized by a buildup of monosodium uric crystals around the joints. The
problem is pain in the joints when doing a lot of activities or when not controlling
the diet. This study was conducted to find out the effect of ginger compresses on
the decrease in pain in elderly people with gout arthritis.
Method: The design of this study uses a case study method with the subject of
case studies as many as 2 clients, namely families suffering from gout arthritis
with knee pain problems in the pakjo health center working area held on April 7 -
9 and April 12,14 and April 15, 2021. The data was taken using interviews,
observations, and documentation.
Research Results: The results of the study on the implementation of family
nursing in the elderly with gout arthritis with acute pain problems obtained the
result that the administration of ginger compresses helps reduce pain.
Conclusion: It is expected that the administration of ginger compresses to
families and elderly people suffering from gout arthritis pain can be a learning for
further research.
