Description
Diabetes Mellitus is a type of chronic disease characterized by increased blood
sugar levels due to metabolic disorders in the body. Diabetes Mellitus sufferers will
usually experience weight loss due to glucose levels that cannot enter the body's cells,
so that the cells lack fuel to produce energy, so that energy sources have to be taken
from other reserves, namely fat and protein. The purpose of this study was to carry out
and determine the description of nursing care in Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients
with nutritional deficits. The type of research used is descriptive analytic in the form
of a nursing care approach which includes assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning,
implementation, and evaluation. The study subjects were two Diabetes Mellitus
patients with nutritional deficit problems. This research was conducted on April 5,
2021 - April 8, 2021 at the Siti Fatimah Regional General Hospital, South Sumatra
Province. Based on the results of research conducted on the two patients for 3 days to
overcome the nutritional deficit, there was an increase in appetite and decreased
nausea and after being given education about the DM diet, the two patients were able
to know how to correct the DM diet.
