Description
Pain during childbirth is a physiological process. The first stage of labor pain
starts from the onset of the cervix to the complete opening (10cm). Nonpharmacological efforts that can be done are massage (massage). The general
objective of this case study is to be able to carry out the nursing implementation
of intranatal massage techniques to reduce period 1 labor pain. Case study method
descriptive approach to nursing care for 2 days with two respondents who have 1
stage labor pain problems at Muhammadiyah Hospital Palembang in 2021 This
case study focuses on the nursing implementation of intranatal massage
techniques and health education about 1st stage labor pain. Results of the case
study which was carried out on patients by providing deep back massage
techniques, namely pressing the sacrum bone using the base of the arm steadily
had an effect on effectively reducing pain. mothers feel during the 1st stage of
delivery and increase the patient's knowledge about labor pain. Conclusion The
pain felt by the mother during the 1st stage of labor decreased after being given
deep back massage technique during the complete opening process. Before doing
deep back massage, the mother during the first period of birth experienced severe
pain that was controlled, and after being given deep back massage it became mild
pain. Suggestion for nurses to be able to provide good pain management during
the labor process with non-pharmacological techniques, one of which is deep back
massage techniques.
