Description

Menstrual pain or commonly called Dysmenorrhea comes from Greek. Dys which
means difficult, painful, abnormal. Meno means moon. Rrhea means flow.
Dysmenorrhe or dysmenorrhoea in Indonesian means pain during menstruation.
The prevalence in Indonesia in 2008 was 64.25% consisting of 54.89%
experiencing primary dysmenorrhoea and 9.36% others experiencing secondary
dysmenorrhoea. The technique that is currently developing aims to determine the
effect of Pilates exercise on reducing menstrual pain in adolescents at MAN 2
Palembang City in 2020.
This research method is Pre-Experiment with one group pre-test and post-test
design approach. The population in this study were all students in MAN 2
Palembang City who experienced menstrual pain and met the inclusion criteria.
Sampling in this study using purposive sampling.
It is known from 30 respondents before intervention, 19 respondents (63.3%)
experienced moderate pain, after the intervention there were 16 respondents
(84.2%) who experienced a decrease in pain to mild pain, 3 respondents (15.7%)
who declined to no. And before the intervention was found also 11 respondents
(36.7%) who experienced mild pain, after the intervention there were 7
respondents (63.6%) who decreased to no pain, 4 respondents (36.3%) who
remained at the level mild pain and 0 respondents (0%) who experienced an
increase in pain to moderate pain.Wilcoxon test results obtained a p-value of
0,000 (p <0.05), which means there is an influence before and after being given
Pilates exercise on the reduction of menstrual pain in MAN 2 Palembang City in
2020.
Pilates exercise done by stretching and strengthening the core muscle area that is
the area between the pelvis, abdomen and waist that can relax muscles that
contract and when the body does exercise, it will also stimulate the hypothalamus
to produce endrophin as a natural sedative with the effect of causing a sense of
comfort.
From the above research it can be concluded that the influence of Pilates exercise
on decreasing menstrual pain and Pilates exercise is expected to be one of the
therapies used to reduce menstrual pain that is felt.
