Urban) DENGAN VARIASI CARBOPOL 940 SEBAGAI GELLING AGENT Description An account of the resource Latar Belakang: Daun Sirih Merah (Piper crocatum Ruiz. and Puv.) dan Herba Pegagan (Centella asiatica L. Urban) mengandung senyawa aktif flavonoid, saponin, dan tanin yang memiliki aktifitas antibakteri, memacu pembentukan kolagen dan sebagai astringen. Menurut Dian Reni Agustina (2011) Kombinasi daun sirih merah dan herba pegagan berdasarkan akttivitas farmakologi kedua tanaman dapat terjadi efek sinergis dan aditif sebagai pengobatan luka pada penderita diabetes. Metode: Penelitian yang dilakukan adalah eksperimental. Ekstrak daun sirih merah (Piper crocatum Ruiz. and Puv.) dan herba pegagan (Centella asiatica L. Urban) diformulasikan menjadi sediaan gel dengan memvariasikan konsentrasi Carbopol 940. Konsentrasi zat aktif sirih merah dan herba pegagan yang digunakan dalam setiap formula masing-masing adalah 25% dan 7,5% serta konsentrasi Carbopol 940 yang digunakan pada formula I adalah 1%, pada formulaII adalah 1,5%, pada formula III dan formula kontrol adalah 2%. Kemudian dilakukan uji kestabilan fisik dan uji iritasi kulit. Uji kestabilan fisik meliputi pH, viskositas, homogenitas, daya sebar, warna dan bau. Pengujian dilakukan selama 28 hari penyimpanan. Hasil: Selama 28 hari penyimpanan pH gel cenderung stabil, viskositas mengalami penurunan sedangkan daya sebar mengalami peningkatan. Partikel terdistribusi secara merata serta memiliki warna dan bau yang stabil. Ketiga formula tidak menimbulkan iritasi kulit saat diaplikasikan ke kulit. Kesimpulan: Kombinasi ekstrak daun sirih merah (Piper crocatum Ruiz. and Puv.) dan herba pegagan (Centella asiatica L. Urban) dapat diformulasikan menjadi sediaan gel yang stabil dan memenuhi persyaratan. Formula yang paling stabil adalah formula II dengan konsentrasi Carbopol 940 sebesar 1,5%.
