Kasus gastroenteristis yang terjadi di Propinsi Sumatera Selatan tahun 2014 berjumlah 16.946 kasus melonjak tajam menjadi pada tahun 2015 sebanyak 193.699 kasus, sementara distribusi kejadian diare di kota Palembang pada tahun 2014 sebanyak 42.221 kasus, pada tahun 2015 menurun menjadi 40.626 kasus (Profil Dinas Kesehatan Prop SUMSEL 2016). Studi kasus ini menggunakan metode deskripsi, sampel adalah klien Gastroenteritis dengan masalah ketidakseimbangan cairan dan elektrolit. Data ini diperoleh dengan cara melalui anamneses, pemeriksaan fisik, dan dokumentasi. Setelah dilakukan tindakan keperawatan selama 3 hari diagnosa yang muncul yaitu implementasi sebagian besar telah sesuai dengan rencana tindakan yang telah ditetapkan. Kerjasama antar tim kesehatan dan pasien atau keluarga sangat diperlukan untuk keberhasilan asuhan keperawatan pada pasien sehingga masalah keperawatan pasien mengenai Ketidakseimbangan cairan dan elektrolit berhubungan dengan kehilangan cairan dapat dilaksanakan dengan baik dan sebagian masalah dapat teratasi sebagian.
