Description
Background: Appendicitis is an inflammatory process due to infection of the appendix or appendix or called the appendix. This infection can cause complications if you don't get surgery immediately for treatment. The purpose of the case study was the management of pain in post-appendectomy patients using guided imagery techniques.
Methods: The design of this study uses the Nursing Implementation approach including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, evaluation, nursing documentation. As well as using pain assessment instruments with PQRST and NRS (Numeric Rating Scale) assessments.
Results: The results of carrying out pain management that focuses on guided imagery techniques, obtained differences in pain scales before and after deep breathing relaxation techniques were carried out. Patient 1 before pain management in the form of guided imagery techniques obtained a pain scale of 6, and in patient 2 obtained a pain scale of 7. Meanwhile, after pain management was carried out in the form of guided imagery techniques, a period of 3 days obtained a pain scale of 4 in patient 1 and patient 2.
Conclusion: Implementation of pain management nursing in the form of guided imagery techniques is effective in reducing pain due to postoperative appendectomy.
