Description
Background : Fractures are a break in the continuity of the bone caused by direct
or indirect trauma. The cause of fractures is usually caused by trauma or physical
strength, the condition of the bones and soft tissue around the bones. hospital due
to an open fracture of the lower limb with a problem that often arises, namely
acute pain. One of the most effective nursing interventions for dealing with pain is
deep breathing relaxation techniques which are conscious actions to regulate deep
and slow breathing which can have a relaxing effect on pain relief.
Method : The design of this case study is a descriptive design in the form of a
case study with a nursing care process approach. The subjects of the case study
were 2 patients in the inpatient room with the same criteria after open lower limb
fracture surgery with acute pain problems.
Results : Implementation of nursing given in the form of deep breathing
relaxation technique therapy to reduce pain in postoperative lower limb open
fracture patients, in patient I before breathing relaxation techniques were carried
out on a pain scale of 6, down to 4 on the second day and dropped to 2 on the third
day, the second patient initially had a pain scale of 4, dropping to 3 on the second
day and dropping to 2 on the third day.
Conclusion: In dealing with reducing pain in postoperative patients with open
fractures of the lower extremities, there is no gap between theory and
implementation.
