Subject
Post Partum, Postpartum Discomfort, Pain Management, PBM NIR
Description
Background: A problem that can occur in normal postpartum mothers is
postpartum discomfort due to uterine involution. Uterine involution in patients can
cause pain in the uterus which is called pain after pain. Discomfort caused by
uterine involution requires various treatments to minimize the pain felt by the
mother so that the mother's comfort can return. This can be overcome with nonpharmacological techniques for pain management through innovations such as near
infrared phototherapy or photobiomodulation near infrared (PBM NIR). Method:
The design of this study used a descriptive method in the form of a case study that
focused on the implementation of non-pharmacological techniques of pain
management nursing with NIR PBM therapy. Case study subjects were 3 normal
postpartum patients with the same problem, namely postpartum discomfort in the
obstetric room at Muhammadiyah Palembang Hospital. Results: The results
showed that the implementation of non-pharmacological techniques of pain
management with NIR PBM therapy had an effective effect on treating postpartum
discomfort with complaints of decreased discomfort, decreased moaning, and
strong uterine contractions. Conclusion: Implementation of pain management can
improve comfort status in normal postpartum mothers. The results of this study can
be used as a reference for learning to develop science and technology regarding the
implementation of non-pharmacological pain management techniques with
postpartum discomfort problems in normal postpartum patients.
