Description
Febrile seizures are seizures that occur at temperatures above 38 ° C caused by
extracranial processes without a history of seizures without previous fever. The purpose of this
study was to describe the management of hyperthermia in pediatric patients with febrile seizures
through a case study approach. Method: study a descriptive with a brief case study approach to
the assessment of nursing care, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of
nursing. The subjects in this case study are two pediatric patients with the initials An.A who is 9
months old and the second patient with the initials An.N who is 6 months old. Nursing care is
carried out in an inpatient room at a public hospital in the city of Palembang. While the process of
taking nursing care from 2 to 4 and 16 to 18 April 2021. The data analysis used in this case study
is a descriptive analysis used to analyze the data by describing the data collected to make a
conclusion that is presented in detail narrative. Results: The study found that An.A had a fever for
two days and had a seizure for five minutes. And, An.N had a fever all night and had two
convulsions for ten minutes. Nursing interventions that focus primarily on the diagnosis of
hyperthermia have the aim of maintaining body temperature within normal limits, preventing
recurrent seizure. The results of the evaluation of the patient's body temperature are within normal
limits and seizures do not occur. Conclusion: There was a decrease in temperature in both patients
with febrile seizures during hyperthermia management.
