Description
Background: Hypertension is a condition where a person's blood pressure
increases above normal which can lead to an increase in morbidity (morbidity)
and death (mortality) (Sumartini, Zulkifli & Adhitya, 2019). Hypertension is a big
challenge in Indonesia. Hypertension is a condition that is often found in primary
health care with increased morbidity and mortality in accordance with the increase
in systolic and diastolic pressure which is the main cause of heart failure, kidney
failure, and stroke. Hypertension is also referred to as the “silent killer” because
people with hypertension often have no symptoms.
Methods: this type of research design uses a descriptive design in the form of a
case study. The approach used is the nursing care approach which includes
assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation and
documentation. The case study subjects used were 2 people who were patients
suffering from hypertension who had the same problem, namely knowledge
deficit. This research was conducted at Muhammadiyah Hospital Palembang in
2022.
Results: implementation of nursing in the form of providing education on
hypertension, pathophysiology of hypertension, signs and symptoms of
hypertension, understanding and causes of hypertension to find out information
about hypertension.
Suggestion: it is hoped that families and patients can recognize the meaning,
causes of hypertension, pathophysiology, signs and symptoms
