Description
ABSTRACT
Background: diabetes or diabetes mellitus is often also abbreviated as DM,
which is a urine health problem with high blood sugar levels then disrupting the
body's metabolic processes causing the insulin hormone to not work properly.
Type II diabetes is insulin that does not respond well to cells. Self care
management is self-management that has procedures to regulate and manage
itself properly. Purpose: of this study was to describe the analysis of self care
management of people with type II diabetes mellitus during the covid-19
pandemic. Methods: this type of research is descriptive quantitative through a
survey approach. Data were collected using a Summary of Diabetes Self-Care
Activities (SDSCA) questionnaire. Sampling was carried out by purposive
sampling in the working area of the Makrayu Health Center Palembang with 53
samples. The analysis used is univariate data analysis. Results: the results of this
study indicate that the analysis of self care management is lacking and good self
care management has almost the same distribution in patients. In the category of
self care management less by 45.3% and good self care management by 54.7%
and in most categories of good self care management, namely diet 50.9%,
exercise 62.3%, foot care 62.3%, taking diabetes medication 62.3%, and
monitoring blood sugar 71.7%. Discussion and Suggestion: in self care
management behavior that needs to be improved, namely diet behavior, special
training sessions, inspection of the inside of the shoe before use, and routinely
using moisturizers on the feet. Patients are expected to improve self-care
management behavior both to improve health status and prevent disease complications
