Abstract
Background: Dysmenorrhea is pain that occurs during menstruation and this can
interfere with daily productivity. Dysmenorrhea or menstrual pain is a common
gynecological complaint experienced by women. Dysmenorrhea is a symptom and
not a disease. Usually the pain experienced is cramping pain in the lower
abdomen and radiates to the back. From the data obtained, dysmenorrhea is
disturbing at least, more than 50% of women are unable to carry out activities for
1-3 days each month and as many as 25% of women are absent from school due
to dysmenorrhea, which results in many absenteeism at school and office This
study provides an alternative therapy that is simple, easy to do and preventive in
nature, namely dysmenorrhea exercise. Objective: This study aims to determine
the effect of dysmenorrhea exercise on menstrual pain in adolescent girls.
Methods: This type of research is quasi-experimental with a non-equivelent
control group pre-test-post-test design. Sampling was done by purposive
sampling. The sample in this study amounted to 24 people. Results: Analysis of
the research results using the Mann Whitney Test statistic test obtained a p value
of 0.007 (p <0.05). These results indicate that there is a significant difference in
pain scale between the intervention and control groups, it can be concluded that
there is a significant influence of dysmenorrhea exercise on menstrual pain in
adolescent girls at Athalla Putra Health Vocational High School Palembang.
Conclusion: This study shows the effect of dysmenorrhea exercise on menstrual
pain in adolescent girls at Athalla Putra Health Vocational High School
Palembang in 2021. It is expected that Adolescent girls who experience menstrual
pain can do dysmenorrhea exercise to reduce pain during menstruation.
