Description

ABSTRACT
Background: In the era of the Covid-19 pandemic, the need of nurses in hospitals
has increased along with the increasing number of Covid cases. The positive case
data in Indonesia as of June 1st, 2021 reached 1,826,527. As a service provider,
nurses in dealing with Covid patients must still provide professional services.
QNWL can describe the extent of the working life quality of nurses that affected
the performance of the organization, including the turnover rate of nurses.
Objective: to find the relationship between QNWL and turnover at Muhammadyah
Palembang Hospital. Methods: using an analytical descriptive research design with
a cross sectional approach. The sample contains 70 respondents with purposive
sampling technique who works in non-intensive and intensive inpatient rooms. Data
is collected by using the standard QNWL and Anticipated Turnover Scale
questionnaires. Data is analysed by using Fisher’s Exact Test. Results: The overall
level of QNWL of nurses and QNWL dimensions are in the good category, yet the
work world dimension and the level of nurse turnover intention are in the low
category and there is no relationship between QNWL and nurse turnover.
Discussion and Suggestion: QNWL is not the main factor in the intention of nurse
turnover during the Covid-19 pandemic in this study, but there are other factors that
influence the turnover such as increased workload, inappropriate compensation,
negative stigma on society, mental burden and factors of age, gender, marital status,
education level, workspace and length of work that trigger nurses for intending the
turnover. Based on the results of this study, further research should be carried out
qualitatively by using more variables and larger samples so that the expected results
can be more optimal.
