Background: Self-care deficit is a person's inability to perform one of the basic needs of
self-care independently. researchers provide professional practice to patients using some
basic principles; namely the development of independence, therapeutic communication,
and collaboration. To increase the level of independence.
Objective: To obtain an overview of the nursing implementation needs of self-care
deficit patients.
Methods: This research is in the form of a descriptive case study, with the
implementation method using nursing care. The data of this study were taken by a
process of assessment, interviews, and direct observation conducted from 12 to 18 April
2021, the subject of the case study was two schizophrenic patients. with the problem of
hearing self-care deficits in the Bangau Room of Ernaldi Bahar Hospital, South Sumatra
Province.
Results: After the implementation of the patient, the results showed that the fulfillment
of self-care needs was very effective in overcoming the problem of self-care deficits. The
supporting factors in this case study are therapeutic communication, and the inhibiting
factors are the absence of family support and low self-esteem.
Conclusion: it is hoped that this method of controlling by practicing conversation can be
developed again and become learning for further research.
