Salah satu penyakit gingiva yang sering dijumpai adalah gingivitis, yaitu peradangan pada gusi yang disebabkan oleh bakteri dan biasanya mendahului periodontitis. Sampel penelitian yaitu berjumlah 115 orang dan pengambilan sampel penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dari 115 orang subjek penelitian yang diperiksa gingivitis pada masyarakat RT 03 RW 02 Kelurahan Babat Kecamatan Babat Toman Musi Banyuasin Sumatera Selatan yaitu gingivitis kategori ringan 40,9% (47 orang), gingivitis kategori sedang 35,6% (41 orang) dan gingivitis kategori berat 23,5% (27 orang).
